DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will prepare and maintain both physical and electronic medical records of inmates. By creating and filing medical reports, you will ensure that all information is up-to-date and accurate. You will also compile all inmate medical records for transfer and assist the medical department with data entry. In addition, you will ensure that medical reports and documented entries follow documentation practices, DOC policies, and federal, state, or accreditation standards applicable to health care. You will refer non-compliant, insufficient, or incomplete records to health care staff for necessary revisions. Other duties will include delivering and retrieving records, as well as composing and typing requests for medical information from other facilities, hospitals, or agencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,785.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of clerical experience in a medical records department of a hospital, or ambulatory acute medical care setting or a licensed nursing facility, which has included six months of experience under the general direction or oversight by a registered Medical Records Technician or Administrator; and graduation from high school; or
Graduation from a medical secretarial or medical records program; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
