DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Senior Center Operator 1, you will participate in the organization, planning, and scheduling of activities for older adults, in addition to overseeing daily operations of the senior center. Responsibilities include building a positive rapport with patrons to encourage socialization and participation in offered activities, organizing transportation for participants, scheduling monthly nutrition and educational programs, preparation and packaging of home delivered meals, and recruiting and training volunteer center assistants. This is a rewarding career which allows you to assist with promoting a healthy life style by keeping older adults socially active and providing educational and informative programs.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Part-time employment, up to 18 hours/week.
Work hours are 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch. Scheduled days and location may vary:
Coudersport Senior Center – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Galeton Senior Center – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Oswayo Valley Senior Center (located in Shinglehouse, PA) – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Hours may vary dependent upon special events.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities;or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Potter County. If no eligible candidates who live within Potter County apply for this position, candidates who reside in Cameron, Clinton, Elk, Lycoming, McKean, or Tioga counties will be considered. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
