JMT is seeking Transportation Construction Inspection professionals to join our Central PA Team. Our primary clients are the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and other Local Government agencies throughout our Central PA Region.
The successful candidate will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials
Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues
Gathers and maintains record documents
Makes field notes and computations
Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills
Client Requested certifications, including:
NICET Level 2 or higher in Transportation/Highway Construction
NECEPT-Bituminous and Concrete Field Technician
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician
Strong Computer proficiency
Active drivers license
Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
4 years of Construction Inspection Experience
Preferred Experience
Associates or bachelors degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations
Ability to act in an Owners Agent/Responsible in Charge role
CDS NeXtGen and/or ECMS Wave 5 certification or experience
Previous PennDOT and or PA Turnpike Inspection Experience

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
