Summary :
Under general supervision by the Leave Administrator Manager the LOA Analyst handles all Leave of Absence (LOA) requests (Family Medical Leave, Other Medical, and Leave as an Accommodation) from UPHS employees in accordance with UPHS Disability Management protocols and Federal and State regulations. The role interacts with colleagues, third party administrators, management and physician offices to ensure all appropriate information is obtained and documented in compliance with Federal/State regulations and policies of UPHS. This position partners with all departments and legal counsel to escalate problem resolution as necessary. The LOA analyst maintains open two-way communication with the employee, Human Resources Generalists, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the entire leave process, while maintaining regulatory compliance. The LOA Analyst assists the Leave Manager and Director of Benefits on special projects and provides back-up to Sr. LOA Consultants and LOA Specialist.
Responsibilities :
Analyzes LOA requests to determine eligibility and certification in compliance with state and federal regulations. Acts as the subject matter expert by providing guidance to internal clients (HR Operations and line managers) regarding interpretation of local, state and federal laws regarding FMLA, NJFLA and ADA as well as related UPHS policies.
Maintains, analyzes and conducts the interactive process, coordinate reasonable accommodation requests with employee/manager and HR Generalist on a case-by-case basis. When necessary, contact physicians to discuss reasonable accommodations and verify information. Processes all transitional return to work with restrictions.
Reviews and assesses medical certifications as related to the ADA and to determine if the employee meets the definition as defined in accordance with the Employees with Disabilities Policy. When necessary, contacts physicians to discuss reasonable accommodations, verify information and discuss possible accommodations.
Communicates decisions and on-going expectations with claimants and clients & participates in bi-weekly OGC conference calls to discuss challenging ADA cases.
Create standard operating procedures for each category of the leave of absence process
Updates the HRIS and Leave of Absence (LOA) system/database daily.
Conducts outreach to physicians for clarification on Medical Certification prior to sending to Medical Oversight.
Identifies departments with high-utilization and partners with HR Operations and line managers to address issues.
Coordinates return to work following leaves of absences in accordance with any applicable restrictions.
Conducts monthly audits to ensure compliance with UPHS policies.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
And 2 years Related experience, preferably in Leave of Absence Administration and good understanding of FMLA rules and regulations as well as rules governing the American with Disabilities Act. (Required)
