Job Description

Apply your talents by utilizing your expertise within our facility in Ashland as a Boiler Operator. Follow all safety rules and standard operational procedures. Monitor and inspect equipment, alarms, safety devices, and meters to detect leaks or malfunctions and to ensure that equipment is operating efficiently and safely. Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts registering various aspects of boiler operation. Analyze problems and take appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of the boiler/powerhouse. Attend and participate in daily crew meetings.

The Industrial Boiler Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial boilers and associated equipment. This role ensures the safe and efficient functioning of boilers to meet the facility’s steam and heating requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and Monitor Boilers: Start, operate, and shut down boilers and auxiliary equipment. Monitor gauges, meters, and control systems to ensure optimal performance.

Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on boilers, pumps, valves, and other related equipment. Identify and troubleshoot issues to prevent breakdowns.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations. Conduct safety checks and ensure all equipment is operating within safety standards.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and any incidents. Prepare reports as required.

Water Treatment: Monitor and adjust water treatment systems to ensure proper water quality and prevent scaling and corrosion.

Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively. Implement corrective actions to resolve issues and minimize downtime.

Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance staff, engineers, and management to coordinate activities and ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in boiler operation is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in operating and maintaining industrial boilers.

Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Certifications: Boiler Operator License or certification as required by local regulations.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and conditions.

This is a permanent position.

Work Environment

Indoor/Outdoor non-climate controlled facility with brand new machines. Need to be open to 12-hour rotating shifts between day/night, with 15 days off a month due to schedule. 40-50 hours a week; overtime is not mandatory but available. The culture is, valuing employee happiness with a goal of a family-like environment. Dress code includes Steel Toed Boots, Jeans, T-shirt, Safety Vest, and PPE.
