The Exercise Specialist I is responsible for providing a safe and effective exercise environment for facility users by supervising individual exercise programs, educating the individuals who are exercising, and establishing a personalized program of exercise for each user.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Associates degree in exercise science, health/wellness, fitness, recreation or a related field
2. Certification in AED/CPR within 30 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelors degree preferred.
2. Certification from a NCCA-accredited fitness organization, such as ACSM, ACE, NSCA, NASM, etc. preferred

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Provides a safe and fun environment for participates.
2. Promotes knowledge of proper group fitness components, i.e. warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down, etc.
3. Knowledgeable in the techniques and dynamics of group fitness. Knowledge in a variety of group fitness classes.
4. Provides customer service to patrons.
5. Knowledge of the CCMC Health and Wellness Center policies.
6. Works closely and communicates class changes and/or cancellations to the Group Fitness Coordinator.
7. Strive to meet class attendance quotas.
8. Maintain established department and hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environment, infection and hazardous material control.
