What you need to be successful in this role:

The Locomotive Operator is responsible for daily railcar movement – We will provide training

Assist with spotting cars on the correct track; move empty cars and build the outbound train

Visually inspect rail cars and perform minor repairs

Understand and adhere to rail rules and safety regulations as prescribed by Savage, our customer, and the Railroad

Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts - Dupont Schedule

Key strengths of the successful locomotive operator:

Attend and pass all training associated with job related coursework. This includes but is not limited to: OSHA, HazMat and FRA related courses. Willing to complete switchmen, Locomotive and Distributive power training & general safety training

Must be able to pass the plants site requirement test 

Strong communication and listening skills including the ability to read, write and understand English

Perform basic maintenance

One year or more of Rail Industry experience is a plus

Work experience in an industrial environment is also a plus

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Must be able to climb on and off railcars and locomotives 

Walk 2 miles per day on uneven terrain, etc.

Ability to work, walk, and stand on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time
