Veterinarian
Select Genetics
This position is responsible for the health and wellbeing of the turkeys and providing veterinary service to Select Genetics. This position will support farm operations in Wadesboro and Raeford, NC.
The Veterinarian employee will:
Assist the breeder operations managers by providing superior veterinary and diagnostics laboratory services.
Work with affiliated companies to develop products and procedures to enhance profitability.
Provide superior internal and external customer support. Serve as on-site point of contact for internal and external customers, communicating proactively and demonstrating commitment to high quality service.
Follow and enforce all of the company’s rules and regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare and safety.
Prepare data summaries, reports or analyses that include charts and graphs to document research findings and results.
Work productively in a team environment and be willing to help in any area deemed necessary for positive results.
Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Work with a variety of technical tools and equipment.
Have the ability to push, bend, stoop, squat, pull and lift 50lbs or more.
Passion for working with live animals.
Organize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.
Perform the duties of the job while constantly moving and using hands, occasionally lifting heavy objects while being exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals and fumes.
Work an extended work day, if needed.
Maintain strong preventative health and biosecurity programs.
Research and development.
Design, participate and oversee various applied research trials in production and in controlled research settings.
Ability to communicate complex issues verbally and in writing.
Training employees on technical practices and protocols.
Prepare biological samples for testing or analysis.
Self-directed effective time management.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Requirements:
DVM degree from an AVMA accredited college.
Ability to successfully handle multiple demands simultaneously is required.
Strong time management and organizational skills is required.
A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record required.
Successful completion of criminal background check is required.
Prior experience in a poultry industry is preferred.
Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills a plus.
