Packaging and Assembly Operator

The Packaging & Assembly operator is responsible for the organizing, cleaning, packaging, quality, and assembly of product in a consistent way according to specification. It requires a forward thinking person and the ability to pack off production lines, minimize waste and follow safety guidelines and work to schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Main responsibilities of this job:
Accountable for maintaining a safe work environment. Must recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss.
Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure the team is packing per schedule and specification.
Coordinate shipping box priorities with other departments as needed.
Isolate any product which will not meet the established quality standards and notify your Supervisor of any such problem and record on appropriate documents.
Maintain workplace organization and ensure good housekeeping practice.
Communicate daily expectations, direction and instructions and provide ongoing feedback to supervisor.
Train and Cross-train in the various jobs, in a way which will promote safety, quality, and productivity.
Follow safe work practices while operating forklifts and other equipment.
Attend daily production meeting with scheduler or Supervisor.
Hours: 7am-3:30pm (schedule may vary or change according to production deadlines).
May be required to work overtime as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Pack various type of precision metal products per specifications.
Follow instructions and support a small team to achieve goals.
Cross train on various hand tools and work techniques.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum three years of experience in manufacturing / production or warehouse / distribution.
Good interpersonal skills, communication skills and time management skills.
Must have the ability to work independently and in a small team.
Possess strong analytical skills and a commitment to details.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments in a dynamic environment according to plant and company objectives. Must be flexible to adapt to changing and varying work requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
Time spent on foot. Lifting of parts, boxes up to 50 lbs. Majority of time spent in a light manufacturing environment.
