Where You Will Work:
This position will primarily work out of the American Job Center located in Panama City, Florida. Panama City is centrally located in Northwest Florida between Pensacola and Tallahassee on Florida’s Gulf of Mexico coast. The Panama City/Bay County area consistently ranks above the national average for quality of life. The area is well known for its beautiful beaches that feature 27 miles of white, sandy coastline along with countless recreational activities, an active arts community, and southern hospitality culture.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a responsible professional position serving as liaison between the unemployed and under-employed worker and the business community by educating local employers on CareerSource Center services via informational workshops, seminars, presentations, and on-site employer visits. This position will address employer concerns and develop the necessary programs and services in order to meet an employers workforce needs. An emphasis will be placed on increased visibility and recognition in the local business community as the point-of-contact for new and established employers.
Develop and implement marketing strategies and employment related programs and services for employers and jobseekers. Coordinate marketing activities and serve on the marketing team. Market CareerSource Center functions and programs in the region through visits to employers, community organizations, public and private agencies in order to obtain job orders. Disseminate information on available CareerSource services. Provide personalized services for Employer Recruiting Agreements, Trade Adjustment Act and On-The-Job Training programs with employers and maintain required files.
Refer customers to job openings, training opportunities and other employment-related services. Provide job development services and determine potential eligibility for and participation in special programs. Provide employability skills, labor market information and referrals to supportive services as needed. Provide Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) case management, data entry for the Wagner Peyser Act and maintain required forms, case notes and files. Monitor the maintenance of client files and the required data entry into approved Florida Commerce (COM) programs that directly impacts program performance.
Interview and assess customer needs and provide services and referrals as deemed appropriate. Conduct interviews and provide counseling services to evaluate and determine customer education, experience, training, and abilities. Work register and provide orientation and job referral assistance to jobseekers. Assist jobseekers in all core and assisted core activities as needed within the CareerSource Center.
Research and interpret current employment trends, unemployment statistics and labor market information. Conduct group orientations and workshops informing jobseekers on current labor market information, job qualifications, employer demands (job criteria) and training opportunities available through community resources and refer as appropriate. Assist in eliminating barriers to participation in the world of work by instructing customers in interviewing techniques, job finding skills, resume writing, completing applications and other skills relating to obtaining employment.
Actively participate in community outreach and public relations activities. Plan, coordinate and provide functional supervision in the development of job fairs and business expos on behalf of the CareerSource Center. Participate in community-based organizations and agencies. Hold memberships in the local Chambers of Commerce. Participate and partner in business expos and employer job fairs throughout the community.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft Office applications, incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Knowledge of basic sales principles and skills
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication
Knowledge of workforce plans and business/management principles
Skilled in group presentations or workshop instruction and/or facilitation.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing
Ability to promote and market the Career Center
Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to prepare reports to include recording, evaluating, and analyzing data
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments
Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Other Requirements that may be required for the position:
Must possess or obtain certification as a Workforce Professional Tier 1 within 12 months of employment in the position.
