Job Summary and Qualifications

The OR Svc Line Coordinator Technician demonstrates knowledge of surgical instruments and principals of sterile technique. The OR Svc Line Coordinator Technician anticipates the needs of the surgical suite within the scope of the positions competencies with the use of critical thinking. The Coord OR Svc Line Technician adheres to hospital policies and procedure, is supervised by the Registered Nurse, and collaborates with the surgical team to improve customer satisfaction.

In This Role You Will:

· Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.

· Prepares sterile instrument table.

· Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards.

· Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.

· Provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients.

· Transports patients to and from surgical suite.

· Positions patient according to type of surgery.

· Assists the surgical team in surgical procedures which may include passing instruments, sponges and sutures.

· Maintains work area.

· Gathers equipment for cleaning and sterilization.

· Assists in the monitoring of the patient through the procedure.

· Provides age and culturally appropriate care.

· Orients and mentors new staff members.

· Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Required Job Qualifications include:

· BLS for Healthcare Provider required

· Certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.

· Detail-oriented with ability to sustain concentration over long periods of time.

· Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

· Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds

1-3 years of OR Surgical Tech experience in a hospital required

HCA Florida Mercy Hospital is a 488-bed facility. We are accredited by the Joint Commission and offer a wide range of medical specialties. These specialties include emergency care, heart, and vascular care. We are designated by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. Other specialties include maternity and neonatal care. We are a Level II NICU hospital. HCA Florida Mercy Hospital is CARF accredited for inpatient rehabilitation. Our facility offers a Comprehensive Community Cancer Program. This program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. We are affiliated with HCA Florida Healthcare Division. HCA Florida Mercy Hospital is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, Florida. We serve as Miami-Dade County’s only Catholic hospital.
