Sr Corrosion Technician

Essential Functions
Assists corrosion related projects throughout Ohio, including:
AC/DC stray current testing & mitigation
Impressed current CP design & installation
Rectifier/station grounding safety inspections
Large project CP design/onsite inspections
RMU installation & monitoring
Provides technical guidance for the Corrosion Control program
Reviews technical data and information from plant and service activities to ensure that cathodic protection systems remain effective
Designs cathodic protection systems and directing company employees and/or contract crews in their installations
Monitors, evaluates, and repairs existing cathodic protection systems
Evaluates the economic feasibility of protecting unprotected piping systems
Troubleshoots and ensures the repair of all types of cathodic protection devices
Ensures that facility data base is maintained through WMS and reviews WMS corrosion reports and verifies accuracy
Trains personnel in various aspects of corrosion functions
Assists with troubleshooting difficult circuits
Assists local technicians with workload (i.e. test station reading/troubleshooting)
Continues education in corrosion courses (CP Interference, CP3, CIP, etc)
Leads 3rd party monitoring on Company owned Transmission Class pipelines
Leads Pipeline Integrity survey and excavation data collection
Required Qualifications for Position
High School Diploma or equivalent
5 years of experience as a corrosion technician
Experience performing ACVG, CIS, DCVG, and PCM
Possess all of the Operator Qualifications of a Corrosion Technician
Understanding of 49 C.F.R. Part 192 Subpart I and Subpart O
Knowledge and ability to mitigate AC and DC stray current interference
Strong knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, cathodic protection, and impressed current systems
Able to recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions
Competent electrical knowledge
Proficient with WMS, Excel, Word, COGNOS, Ventyx, etc
Detail-oriented
Ability to travel and work overtime, as needed
Maintain a clean and organized vehicle
Have the ability to train and lead others
Successful applicant must be available for emergency assignments and work overtime when required, be on-call, work in all types of weather conditions
Frequent travel is required. Must be able to work scheduled and non-scheduled overtime.
This position is subject to applicable DOT Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan (AMPP) regulations.
Strong knowledge of pipeline coatings and their applications
Residency Requirements:Due to the nature of our business and your emergency response obligations, the successful candidate must live within the Operating Area.Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
NACE CP1-Cathodic Protection Tester Upon Hire
DL NUMBER – Driver License, Valid and in State Upon Hire
Preferred Qualifications
10 years of experience as a corrosion technician
Experience leading Integrity Management surveys and excavations
Certified Material Selection/Design Specialist-NACE CP2-Cathodic Protection Technician Upon Hire
Certified Material Selection/Design Specialist-NACE CIP Level 1 Upon Hire
Work Authorization
