As an In-Charge Accountant, you will be involved in all areas of client service. You will oversee staff accountants on engagements both in the office and on-site at client location, occasionally managing communication with clients on-site and developing client relationships. You may be responsible for several engagements at any given time. This role offers opportunity for advancement and a defined path to leadership.

Recent public accounting experience necessary. Youll work closely with Supervisors, Managers, Principals, and Partners. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

– Participate in the planning of engagements and complete compilation engagements with guidance.
– Assume additional responsibility for preparation of work papers and financial statements.
– Develop footnotes to financial statements.
– Develop management letter comments.
– Review work papers prepared by staff accountants.
– Keep manager/supervisor informed of the status of engagements.
– Prepare higher level individual, corporate and/or other types of tax returns.
– Perform preliminary research on tax-related issues and respond to tax notices.
– Participate in tax planning.
– Deepen knowledge of federal, state and local law.
– Develops technical skills both on the job and through formal learning channels.
– Works as an effective team member to complete project components and assigned tasks.
– Seeks to gain knowledge of client businesses and implements solutions for clients.
– Identifies task issues as well as task progress in a timely and organized manner.
– Builds strong team relationship skills.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

– Actively pursues self-development opportunities.
– Assists in proposal development and research gathering as requested.
– Participates in office and firm wide initiatives.
– Demonstrates an active interest in the business world by keeping abreast of market trends and business developments.
– Builds working relationships at peer client level.
– Assist in the training and supervision of staff accountants and accounting assistants.
– Maintain personal and professional integrity at all times.
– Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

– College degree and
– Minimum of 2 years public accounting experience

Supervisory Responsibility

– Oversee Staff Accountants and Accounting Assistants.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
