Position Summary:
Under minimal direction, and according to established policies and procedures, performs the duties of a Radiation Therapist III in addition to coordinating daily activities of therapists and assists therapists as they directly relate to patient care and staffing
.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1.
Performs and coordinates all necessary activities to fulfill specific expectations in a specialized area such as Continuing Education of Quality Assurance, sits on or chairs committees, maintains records and reviews, revises and implements policy in the area of specialization as necessary or appropriate.
Coordinates all quality assurance aspects of Radiation Therapy.
2.
Participates with interviews, trains, evaluates, completed staffing schedules.
When necessary works with the Department Manager when discipline and/or discharging of therapists and assistant therapists may be necessary according to hospital policy and procedure.
3.
Serves as a liaison between department manager, physicians and billing personnel, and the radiation therapy staff in order to ensure optimal patient care.
4.
Participates in the development and integration of new techniques and procedures.
Instructs students, residents, and staff on assignment about applied aspects of radiation therapy.
Organizes in-service training as necessary.
5.
Sets up patients in simulator and on treatment units with proper alignment to accomplish accurate treatments and deliver prescribed dosages of radiation.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy Technology or graduate of CAHEA accredited school of Radiation Therapy.
Current registration with the ARRT.
Any change in status from “Compliant registered Therapist”, will result in employment status review by Department Manager and Human Resources.
Unsuccessful completion of the registry examination within nine months will result in a nonqualified employee.
Five years experience or equivalent in Radiation Oncology.
Preferred:
Preferably two years experience at Gershenson Radiation Oncology Center or a large academic health care setting.
