The Tooling Specialist is accountable for all tasks/duties described in this job description as well as other assignments as directed by the Prepress Graphics Manager and/or Plant Manager. The Print Tool Technician sets the foundation for successful printing production. They ensure that the proper tools are available when the press needs them or provides timely communication with production to minimize downtime. They train and oversee the technicians in their department. An ideal candidate is someone who has completed the role of Print Tool Technician or has similar experience, knows how to manage people and schedules, and possesses a desire to grow their career with us!

Responsibilities:
Complete monthly KPI metrics for all PTT associates in the plate and screen room for GRE.
Construct Flexographic and Lithographic plates, coating blankets, image rotary screen films or RotaLen screen cylinders.
Maintaining Plate and Screen Tracking Logs, verify information on Plate Envelope is correct.
Conduct critical evaluation of all plates/screens made & complete appropriate QA checklists to ensure tools meet pressroom business rules.
Complete preventive maintenance in accordance to set schedule and production needs.
Coordinate inventory control such as ordering materials, ensure processes are performed correctly.
Maintains WebCenter and PSA schedules to understand priorities and mark completion of jobs or flags.
Responsible for cleaning and maintaining platemaking room/screen room and equipment.
Set up service calls with machine vendors for repairs or regular maintenance.
Create and maintain production reports as well as overseeing and training department technicians.
Complete daily Make Ready Room Screen audits to ensure quality of screens is being maintained.
Related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent.
Exhibits a safety-first attitude in all that is done, from proper personal protection equipment compliance to keeping the work environment safe and hazard-free. Compliance with all workplace and safety standards required.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into actionable tasks.
Intimate knowledge in preparing / planning artwork for high-volume printing.
Knowledge of color separations, press layouts, print specifications
Self-starter with strong leading, organizational, and planning skills.
Capable of working in a team environment and alone with a high sense of urgency.
Possess skills to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
