Chenega Analytic Business Solutions (CABS) provides federal agencies and commercial customers with trusted insights into Records and Information Management, Administrative Solutions, Information Technology, Engineering, and Training. The Network Engineer will provide support services crucial in maintaining and troubleshooting a diverse range of legacy and current IT systems for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain network systems, including hardware, COMSEC, software, and protocols along with optimizing network performance, reliability, and security.
Minimize downtime and ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
Perform network and system troubleshooting to determine the root causes of any user issues or problems.
Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and TACLANE encryptors.
Maintain network security from any external/internal threat and vulnerabilities through compliance with DISA STIGs, ACAS Vulnerability Scans, and RMF Compliance.
Maintain inventory control of multiple types of networking equipment, COMSEC Keys, and TACLANEs, and act as COMSEC Responsible Officer and equipment custodian as needed.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network performance to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
Utilize network monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential problems.
Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures to facilitate troubleshooting, maintenance, security, and future upgrades.
Responsible for packaging and sending unclassified and classified mail in accordance with government-mandated shipping procedures.
Function as a courier for classified equipment and materials between buildings and potentially between Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, and remote locations, as required.
Support the answering security controls as part of the Risk Management Framework in order to maintain information system authorization to operate.
Author and maintain Policies, Processes, and Procedures within the organizations Strategic IT Management framework.
Maintain a neat, secure, and orderly facility.
Complete annual company and customer training requirements according to established policies and procedures, as required.
Record labor hours daily in an online corporate system.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Current CompTIA Network OR a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
5 years of network experience required.
Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell, Fortinet, and VMware vSphere networking desired.
Experience with TACLANE encryptors and GEM One desired.
Experience with Microsoft VISIO desired.
Current CompTIA Security OR DoD 8570 IAT II baseline certification required.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
Secret clearance required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with operating and maintaining IT systems in a DoD environment desired.
Experience with operating and maintaining IT systems in a research or academic environment.
Experience commensurate with DoD or AFRL Risk Management Framework (RMF) and hardening and operating IT systems accordingly.
Experience with the application of the DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
Experience with data center-level hardware, including high-speed fiber optic-based networking and Storage Area Networks (SANs).
Experience with helpdesk support of a highly technical, geographically distributed user base (scientists, engineers, and developers).
Must be well organized, an effective communicator at multiple levels, and able to grasp system concepts and communicate their applications.
Must be capable of quickly learning new systems and associated software applications for proficient execution of tasks.
Must be capable of managing multiple tasks with time-related constraints in a fast-paced environment.
Possess strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to schedule and prioritize work to accommodate customer needs while minimizing the impact on current projects.
Ability to work with all departments to ensure network availability, security, and accessibility.
Ability to self-start and work independently or as a team.
Ability to manage an enterprise IT environment comprised of Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell, Fortinet, and General Dynamics TACLANEs.
Ability to manage VMware vSphere TCP/IP, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel networking.
Ability to manage a virtualized data center across multiple security classification levels, including Top Secret.
Ability to travel up to 10% as requested.
