Job Description
This is a two-year, limited term position.
This position is responsible for the overall administration of Professional Standards Section, Legal Resources and Education Section, Risk Management Section, and Planning, Research, and Accreditation Section. This position is also responsible for all issues delegated by the Chief Deputy Director, or Director. This role will act as a liaison for Leadership Team members and Human Resources on behalf of the Chief Deputy Director, in order to facilitate department operations, with specific emphasis on transparency, accountability and personnel development through policy research, development and oversight.
This position is open to both enlisted and civilian members.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service.
Required Education and Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelors degree in any major.
Experience
Open to all applicants : One year as a 16-level in classified state service or two years as a 15-level in state classified service.
Open to Enlisted applicants : One year experience equivalent to a State Administrator Manager 16 or two years experience equivalent to a State Police F/Lieutenant 15.
Persons licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan are preferred.

Applicants will be rated and screened on the following criteria:
Written Communication- demonstrated writing ability, including organization, style, accuracy, and attention to detail, as demonstrated in the resume and cover letter/memo attached to the application. Format must follow MSP Style Guide standards.
Work Experience- diverse experience with field operations such as managing a district or division within MSP.
Administrative Experience- diverse experience including budgeting, policy development, project coordination, and operating within deadlines.
Supervisory Experience- experience in managing large groups of people, both civilian and enlisted alike.
Community Involvement- experience collaborating effectively with local community officials, law enforcement personnel, and other external agencies.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
