About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Operational Risk Officer within the Consumer Lending Operational Risk team (CL ORBO). The CL ORBO team is responsible for providing independent oversight of front-line operational risk management effectiveness of the Consumer Lending business. Operational Risk is the risk resulting from inadequate or failed internal controls and processes, people, and systems, or resulting from external events.

This role will be responsible for conducting data-driven analysis across various areas such as Risk & Control Environment, Issue Management, Operational Risk Events etc., understand concentration of high risks and provide actionable insights to drive effective risk outcomes. The role is expected to engage with senior business and risk leaders, influence, and challenge risk management activities, evaluate trade-offs and facilitate effective decision making. This role will also develop detailed understanding of business strategy, the customer base, products/services, relevant industry issues/emerging risks, advanced analytical techniques and serve as the subject matter expert across the Operational Risk and execute the vision of expanding data-driven analytics across Operational Risk in Wells Fargo.

In this role, you will:

Perform highly complex analytics leveraging data across areas such as Risk & Control, Operational Risk Events/Losses, Issue Management etc. and other business specific data to understand pockets of high concentration of operational risk.

Oversee analytical deliverables, generate innovative ideas to solve complex business/risk problems, identify appropriate analytical techniques, develop analytic plans, conduct advanced analytics, and summarize insights into crisp packages.

Build routines to proactively track and analyze key metrics and bring forward actionable insights in a timely manner.

Utilize advanced analytical techniques/decision sciences to answer complex questions by leveraging a wide array of risk and business data.

Translate highly complex analysis into simple/actionable insights and create compelling stories in power point for effective decision making.

Leverage technology tools to automate repeatable tasks to drive efficiencies/strengthen controls.

Own analytical process supporting CL ORBO team and ensure good documentation/ governance exists across core processes.

Build connections with the data and reporting teams across the enterprise, keep up with the data knowledge and influence data/reporting teams to supplement/aid analytics.

Guide and mentor other junior members on the team.

Required Qualifications:

7 years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

7 years of Analytics and Reporting, Financial Modeling, and/or Statistics experience.

7 years of hands-on programming experience using languages such as SAS, SQL, Python etc.

Masters degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics, or computer science.

Risk Management and Consumer Lending Finance experience.

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience communicating insights and recommendations using data in a digestible format to a non-technical audience of varying levels, including leadership.

Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power Point skills. Demonstrated ability to create compelling visualization to support analytical output and put effective stories together.

Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple geographies and significant experience influencing stakeholders.

Ability to take ambiguous business problems, determine data-needs, come up with creative solutions and create digestible presentations for non-technical audience across various levels of the company.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$144,400.00 – $300,000.00
