OUR DUTIES

Our day starts with a safety briefing and discussion of our job schedule followed by fueling, inspecting and maintaining equipment, loading/unloading trailers, inventorying pipe and other related pipeyard activities.

We work year-round, outdoors and in all types of environments and weather conditions. On Mondays our crews report to Pleasant Hill, Iowa for mobilization and then travel to job sites throughout Iowa and the Midwest. This position supports our field crews with their materials and equipment needs as well as tracking pipeyard inventory for accounting purposes.

Pipeyard Laborers bring the following experience and/or preferred skills:

Load/unload trailers with heavy equipment and materials such as pipe, augers, bore machines, excavators, welders, plates, sheeting, etc. in a secure manner for transport that prevents damage or loss.

Measure, weigh and calculate the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating for oversized/overweight loads to obtain the necessary permits.

Secure, inventory and organize vehicles, equipment and materials in the pipeyard.

Drive Commercial semi-trucks/trailers following all DOT regulations, inspections, load securement and traffic laws and ensure timely deliveries.

Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, skidsteers, bucket loaders, forklifts, etc.

Work independently with minimal supervision.

Interact and communicate effectively with our customers and employees.

Ensure the general upkeep of the pipeyard and premises.

Submit and maintain accurate paperwork (permits, load lists, pre and post trip inspections, e/logbooks, DOT inspections, timecards, receipts, etc.).

Train employees to safely operate vehicles and equipment when loading/unloading, spotting, supporting, blocking and securing loads in the pipeyard.

Essential job duties include climbing ladders up and down on trucks, trailers, excavators, loaders and other equipment; walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, lifting and climbing; full range of motion and use of arms and legs.

Successful applicants must have a valid Class A CDL w/Tanker Endorsement driver’s license. You must have an acceptable motor vehicle record in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and pass a DOT physical, drug tests and background checks.

We construct “trenchless” pathways for underground utilities such as water, sewer, electrical and drainage as well as pedestrian tunnels using specialized boring and tunneling equipment. We are experts finding the light at the end of every tunnel by going under roads, railroads, runways, rivers and more without disrupting the environment and our communities we live in.
