Job Description
The 6th Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch has an immediate opening for a Judicial Specialist 2 position in the Benton County Clerk of Court office in Vinton, Iowa. The position performs clerical tasks in maintaining and processing court records and materials as well as assisting customers with court related matters.
The starting salary for new State employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The starting pay for this position is $18.59 hourly / $1,487.20 bi-weekly / $38,667.20 annually. Adjustments may be made if the successful applicant has relevant legal experience.
Location: Benton County, Vinton, IA
Hours:Monday – Friday 8:00A – 4:30P

Under the supervision of the Clerk of Court, major duties include: processing electronically filed court documents, assisting court users over the phone, assisting court users at the public counter, and conducting financial transactions. Provide excellent customer service by assisting and communicating with court users in a professional, courteous and respectful manner. Coordinate, communicate and collaborate on work with team members to ensure efficient and accurate case processing of court documents and financial transactions. The ability and desire to learn multiple computer systems including Iowa’s case management system and Electronic Document Management System. Occasional travel to neighboring counties as needed.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and two (2) years of successful completion of accredited post high school education in business, paralegal, computer, legal assistant or related program. Two (2) years of professional office experience in business, court or legal work or a related area with one (1) year of the experience involving customer service. At the discretion of the appointing authority additional years of experience may be substituted for the required post high school education.
Or, the successful completion of additional years of education (i.e., Bachelor’s Degree) may be substituted for years of experience on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience. Education cannot be substituted for customer service experience.
