Overview

The Outpatient Observation Unit RN at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN cares for adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical needs. The unit is protocol driven serving medical and post-procedural/post-surgical patients including but not limited to conditions such as chest pain, syncope, renal colic, toxicology exposure, vertigo, DVT, stroke, gastroenteritis, hysterectomy, TURP, mastectomy and heart catheterizations. This 28 bed unit is fast-paced with an average length of patient stay around 28 hours, accommodating Outpatient Observation, Inpatient and Outpatient Surgical patients and is equipped with remote telemetry to closely monitor cardiac patients. The unit is continuously focused on evaluating processes to improve quality of care, decrease length of stay by facilitating quick discharges and efficient patient flow.

About this position:

64 hours per two weeks

8 hour shifts on the day/evening shift (7am-3:30pm) and (3pm-11:30pm) as well as every third weekend rotation.

Responsibilities Job Description

The registered nurse is responsible for providing patient and family centered nursing care following established standards and practices. The nurse will have an essential role in coordinating care with physicians, care coordinators, patients, and families. The unit is focused on continuously improving processes to improve care and patient flow.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

MN RN licensure in good standing

BLS for health care providers

Training in arrhythmia monitoring and basic EKG interpretation is required or need to train and pass upon hire

Excellent critical thinking skills

Strong communication skills both in person and via phone/emails

Comfortable using computers

Must be able to work in a team environment and delegate

Preferred qualifications:

BSN or willingness to obtain in near future

RN work experience in an acute or sub-acute setting preferably Med/Surg.

Familiarity with EPIC

Desired Skills:

Excellent customer service

Must be adaptable to an ever changing environment and practice on-stage and off-stage behaviors consistently.

Proficient in the English language

Attention to detail

Ability to problem solve effectively
