Job Title: Manager, Fleet Operations FLSA Status: Exempt Department: Fleet Operations Reports to: Director, Fleet Operations GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE: The Manager, Fleet Operations, is responsible for the leadership and oversight of a group of machines within the business unit. This position provides leadership, coaching, and support directly to Assistant Managers and Superintendents. This Manager is responsible to deliver service excellence by measuring, evaluating, and guiding their teams to ensure professionally maintained equipment, competent and engaged crews, training and certification compliance, and a safe, reliable, and productive operation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Leadership and Talent Development Responsible for talent and performance management for all field leaders on assigned machines Monitor and reinforce compliance with the training programs, as well as provide feedback on curriculum, operations procedures, and processes training concepts for Assistant Managers and Superintendents Responsible for promotions, advancements, salary adjustments, or disciplinary actions Safety and Operational Excellence Responsible for maintaining multiple units of fleet equipment in peak operating condition (with at least 98% availability) by monitoring compliance to operating and safety practices, and preventive maintenance programs and making the appropriate repair and replace decisions in a timely and proactive manner Responsible for overseeing and directing improvements or corrective actions, based on machine audits, incidents, production reports, and customer requirements and identifying areas and providing support to justify improvements in equipment Conduct scheduled, structured field visits to operating machines to assess procedural and rules compliance, audit safety practices, verify product quality, and gauge customer satisfaction Business and Financial Management Responsible for budgeting and forecasting overhaul and other large-scale activities for assigned machines as well as monitoring, evaluating, and explaining the Profit and Loss Statements for fleet equipment. Monitor and manage leading and lagging key performance indicators for the operation and deliver monthly and quarterly reports to stakeholders as requested. Executes operating plans and tactics to attain short and long-term financial and mission-critical operational and corporate Tier I goals while evaluating the current and proposed operational systems and procedures to gain efficiencies and minimize risk. Communications Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts on customer railroads, to manage service and quality expectations, maximize track access and production and, if necessary, handle disputes prior to escalation Develop and Organize Customer and Crew joint meetings delivering operational, safety, and corporate messaging as needed to distribute corporate messages throughout the fleet. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and translate them into operational practices to educate employees. BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: Driving Execution Planning and Organizing Values-Based Leadership Personal Accountability Resilience Customer Focus REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associate Degree with Technical Certification Experience: 7 Years of Knowledge and understanding of fleet operations function 1 Years of ability to manage multiple work sites and ability to focus on people and safety, as well as speed, performance, and reliability. 2 Years of ability to make sound business decisions in accordance with Company values, mission, and vision. 3 Years Experienced with delivering against customer expectations and a high sense of urgency environment that demands safety, first and foremost, at all times. 1 Years Experienced in leading and motivating teams to drive employee engagement in servicing customers and achievement of objectives. 1 years of managing 24/7 field operat ons Licenses/Certifications: All Railroad Specific Certifications to operate on track. Loram Operating Rules Certification. All Loram Required E-Learning, On the Job, and 3PPPrdPPP Party Safety Training. 7 Years of Knowledge and understanding of fleet operations function PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Engineering Experience: LMWs process, products, services, and customer relationships.
