Responsibilities

The Recognition Director will develop and implement strategies for recognition to carry forward the mission and vision of Mayo Clinic. This position will work collaboratively across the enterprise and manage activities of multiple initiatives with a focus on Rochester-based projects. Leads problem-solving and decision-making activities and will pursue innovative ideas and recommend best practices to improve products.

This position manages recognition for benefactors giving from $100,000 to more than $10 million. Manages process for creation and installation of recognition displays for all membership-level benefactors. Initiates recognition plans for large gifts and collaborates to deliver proposals for benefactor approval and implementation. Serves as a knowledge expert and liaison to interdisciplinary work teams, with the ability to communicate difficult concepts and collaborate to reach an agreeable solution. Facilitates the identification and creation of naming opportunities, particularly related to full-scale building projects.

Leads the creation of custom gift items and coordinates distribution of ready-made gift items. Represents recognition in transformational gift planning. Manages video-related projects and digital recognition content. s Collaborates with external vendors. Promotes an enterprise and development perspective through service on committees and interdepartmental work groups.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree required. Five to seven years of experience in donor relations, communications, events or marketing required. Experience in Development and an understanding of the philanthropic process is preferred.

Masters degree preferred. Must be capable of working collaboratively in a complex organization. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. Must have demonstrated competencies in leadership and project management. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be comfortable with ambiguity and managing strong opinions. Able to develop strategies for recognition pieces, publications and reports. The incumbent must have strong analytical abilities to continuously improve program outcomes. Must be able to represent Mayo professionally in working with six-figure and greater gift prospects and benefactors and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
