Stellar Manufacturing is a contract manufacturer of solid particle products and specializes in chemical processing services such as specialty tableting, compaction granulation, and granular filling. Summary

The Production Supervisor will be highly organized and able to ensure that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process while monitoring employees and organizing workflows. They must be highly skilled in complex operations and able to comprehend the multifaceted nature of the manufacturing process. The ability to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing costs is also essential to ensure maximum quality and efficiency. This role is essential to our overall company objectives to ensure that the production processes result in products of maximum quality and quantity.

Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and lay out work, assign, instruct and assist employees in resolution of challenges that arise during production.

Promotes and enforces safety, health and company policies and programs. This includes reporting and correcting unsafe working conditions, seeing that PPE is properly utilized and enforcing personnel and operating policies.

Works closely with Training Coordinator on the development of production personnel and follows up with their training.

Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and troubleshoots machinery and equipment operations to bring product back into specification or to keep lines operational.

Confers with other departments to coordinate production activities, studies production schedules and estimates labor required to meet production schedules and projects.

Suggests and makes changes in production procedures and equipment utilization to reduce waste, increase productivity, improve quality, reduce costs, and improve operating efficiency.

Makes hiring recommendations, evaluates, sets goals, motivates, and disciplines employees.

Monitors employees’ timecards and is responsible for the accuracy of the timecards upon submittal for payroll.

Maintains production records and production standards.

Participates in company committees such as Safety Committee and Haz Woper Team.

May be required to perform activities of workers supervised.

May be required to operate production equipment and forklifts.

Understands plant labeling requirements and sees that all chemicals are properly labeled and managed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 10-40 hourly employees on either day or night shift.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a business or related field preferred.

Minimum 5 years’ experience preferred.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions (in English), short correspondence and work orders. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations with co-workers and supervisors.

Basic math: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office)

Excellent problem-solving skills, and strong work ethic

Ability to create and adhere to production processes.

Equipment

Individual will work with simple hand tools, personnel computers, office equipment and applicable industrial equipment.

Communication

Individual will have daily contact with subordinates and management and periodic contact with customers. Communication will be primarily oral. Written work includes accident reports, performance reviews and preformatted daily reports. Communication will include giving direction and instruction, soliciting information and suggestions and convincing other to follow a course of action. Communication requires the exercise of tact and judgement
