This fully remote opportunity allows you the flexibility to work from home in support of Epsilon’s USDA DISC Customer.
Our Customer’s Mission :
The USDA Digital Infrastructure Services Center (DISC) operates 24/7/365 to provide comprehensive on premises and cloud-based hosting services, including Disaster Recovery, security, and professional support services and operations to approximately 35 federal organizations. The USDA and other Federal partners depend upon DISC’s highly complex and interconnected technology infrastructure to conduct their operations. To better support this mission, DISC is modernizing their technology by transitioning to a continuous integration, deployment, and code-based organization.
An average day:
As Solutions Engineer III, you will be responsible for understanding customer needs and designing technical solutions to address their specific challenges. This role involves collaborating closely with both the sales team and customers to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner, ensuring that the proposed solutions align with the clients requirements. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in the implementation and deployment of these solutions, providing technical expertise and support throughout the process. In this position you will:
Be a new customer focused trusted advisor by gaining a sufficient understanding customer business application environments and project requirements and timelines by forging strong communication bonds.
Achieve high level of new customer business application environment understanding by documenting operating systems, application languages, databases, storage protocols and volume, customer and administrator access methods, application architecture and interdependencies, and testing methods.
Maintain new customer confidence through continual engagement, support collaboration, and service delivery.
Continually brief internal stakeholders on new customer project status and advocate on behalf of new customer to achieve desired business outcomes.
Lead planning, coordination, documentation, and direction of both on-premises and commercial cloud projects in concert with subject matter experts in support of new customer initiatives.
Ensure environments adhere to government-mandated compliance frameworks such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and other security policies using AWS Control Tower or Azure governance tools.
Work closely with security teams to implement and maintain cloud security measures, utilizing services like AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), Azure Active Directory, and Control Tower guardrails to enforce a least privilege approach to identity and access controls.
Assist in developing Basis of Estimates for potential new customers by engaging various internal teams to determine their level of effort for any proposed project.
Quickly and efficiently identify areas of risk to a new customer’s project and collaborate on a solution to resolve the issue or escalate through proper channels for resolution.
Configure and manage identity management roles, backend data stores, and network discovery tools in support of an exceptional new customer experience.
Work with internal teams to enhance overall user experience though the entirety of the customers business lifecycle.
Review and assist with enhancement of cloud architecture, networking, security, storage, DevOps, CI/CD, containers, serverless computing, cloud migrations, and multi-region DR solutions.
Follow organizational change, incident, and problem management guidelines and procedures.
Utilize automation tools and frameworks following organizational standards.
Design and solve complex problems with automation first techniques utilizing client provided automation tools.
Maintain and contribute to enterprise source code and configuration (git) repositories.
Participate in Agile project management and a DevSecOps culture as required.
Basic Qualifications:
As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
Experience working closely with cloud engineering and operations teams, providing guidance, and troubleshooting for account setup, governance, scaling, and optimization of cloud environments.
Proven experience handling critical cloud escalations, ensuring prompt and customer-centric resolutions in high-stakes federal environments.
Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter expertise to other engineers, as well as non-technical business associates, management, and others as needed.
Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment, but also independently.
Familiar with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operation best practices.
Experience and comfort with change and ambiguity given the ever-evolving nature of the business.
Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
Preferred AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification or similar.
Preferred experience managing and using AWS Control Tower or Azure governance solutions for multi-account environments, ensuring secure and compliant operations.
