If you are passionate about our company mission, we invite you to apply for the position of Associate Retail Category Development Manager , based out of our Overland Park, Kansas Corporate Office with travel to customers and business meetings.
The Associate Retail Category Development Manager is responsible for using data to develop solutions to drive the category for the customer, being recognized as a credible category partner and providing category development services including category assessment, product assortment, inventory strategies & recommendations for the Vet Retail Environment. Additionally, this role needs to develop working relationships with the customer, consumer marketing, retail marketing and data/insights team to drive category growth.
What You Will Do:
Data Analysis and Business Case Development:
Use Syndicated data sources such as DOMO, Sigma, and Snowflake to gather and analyze diversified data sources to extract insights
Identify category growth opportunities and use data and insights to support compelling business cases to influence customer decision-making
Partner with Hill’s Business Account Managers and Data Teams to uncover growth opportunities and assess risk areas for both category and brand
Collaboration and Insight Generation:
Promote a category growth mindset through co-creating opportunities with Corporate Vet Customers via Hill’s Category Vision workshops
Offer valuable category insights for customer category reviews by leveraging in-depth knowledge of the category and competitive landscape
Deliver unbiased, mutually beneficial recommendations that enhance the category and align with Hill’s strategic interests
Create and present concise, impactful one-page insights to support the Field Sales Team in reaching their quarterly priorities
Product Assortment and Placement Optimization:
Generate and provide recommended Priority Lists by Disease Category to drive focused growth
Strategically develop and implement optimal product assortments and placement strategies targeted towards key Corporate Vet accounts; ability to access emerging opportunities
Support the execution of innovative product launches using insights for timely sell in at headquarter level and by using guidance from Retail Marketing to assist Business Account Managers in accurate forecasting
Relationship Building:
Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Business Account Managers, Business Development Manager, Corporate Veterinary Affairs Managers, Data Teams and key stakeholders across cross-functional teams
Establish yourself as the Category Expert with Customers to drive mutual growth and success
Required Qualifications:
BS/BA degree or higher
4 years of related CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) experience
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years Category Management or Business Analytics experience
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $92,000.00 – $125,000.00 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
