Aston Carter is working with a great company in the KC area who is looking to add a Property Accountant to their team. The role is a newly created position and would offer some growth potential. Job Description
Manage accounting, reporting and analysis for an assigned portfolio of properties, including overseeing A/P, A/R, G/L, bank reconciliations, G/L account reconciliation and monthly financial packages.
Assist Property Management staff with budget preparation.
Analyze account balances, prepare reconciliations, propose adjusting entries as needed, and prepare monthly financial statements with variance analysis to budget and prior periods.
Reconcile all Balance Sheets and bank accounts for assigned portfolio of properties monthly, meeting required deadlines.
Reconcile intercompany activity and prepare chargebacks and funding between entities.
Prepare and input journal entries and accruals
Follow-up on outstanding account issues
Reconcile and maintain Escrow and Reserve accounts for assigned properties, meeting required deadlines.
Manage monthly activity for a few commercial property accounts, including reconciliations, preparing monthly/quarterly/annual reports and analysis.
Handle capitalization and reporting of all fixed assets for book and tax purposes, working closely with external tax team.
Understand internal policies and procedures fully, making recommendations for updates and changes as needed
Oversee payable function including, weekly processing of payments, bank reconciliations, vendor inquiries, annual regulatory requirements, internal controls, and trouble shooting.
Manage a wide range of projects, resolve accounting-related problems and provide support/analytics on ad-hoc requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors in Accounting or Finance required
2 years of property accounting experience highly preferred
