Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Elmira College was the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and is home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies. We are seeking innovative professionals from diverse backgrounds to fill the position of General maintenance and Ice management to join the facilities team.The General maintenance and Ice management is responsible for mowing and trimming, maintaining athletic fields and trails from early spring through late fall. During the winter months it consists of helping maintain and run the MAC Ice arena, which covers running and maintaining the Olympia and ice plant mechanicals. This position also covers all general maintenance needed throughout the facility year-round, including plowing and salting. This position is very fast paced and changes throughout the year to fit the needs of the facility. ESSENIAL FUNCTIONS•Ice management of the ice arena (running the Olympia and other tools associated with the rink)•General maintenance of the entire facility inside and outside (Painting, small electrical and plumbing jobs, ETC)•Mowing and trimming of the grounds•Plowing and salting of all traveled areas•Capable of completing projects with self-direction and self-managementQUALIFICATIONS•3 years of experience preferred •Education: High school diploma or GED •A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history per employer’s Insurance carrier• Demonstrate good verbal and written communication •Able to stand for long periods of time; Ability to stoop, bend, twist and reach•Able to lift and carry 50 pounds•Maintain flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed •Ability to maintain confidentialityWORK LOCATION: Murray Athletic Center, 170 Huck Finn Rd, Horseheads, NY 14845COMPENSATION: $19.50 / Hourly This position is benefit eligible.STATUS: NonexemptTO APPLY: Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to hr@elmira.edu.
