Diversity and Community Engagement Coordinator
The Deans Office in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and College of General Studies is seeking a Diversity and Community Engagement Coordinator responsible for the creation and implementation of diversity training and programming. Key projects include diversity foundation training, experiencing Pittsburgh communities program, a staff mentoring program, and customized diversity trainings for faculty, staff, and students. Assists in the committee searches for positions in the school. Assists with diversity events within the school. Incumbent reports to the Director of Equity and Community Engagement and together they meet with community partners to identify collaborative opportunities with the Dietrich School and College of General Studies.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently, use critical thinking skills, have exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as excellent presentation and facilitation skills. Candidate must also have keen attention to detail.
Job Summary
Provides ongoing consulting, coaching, training, guidance, and expert advice to individuals and leaders across the University. Provides functional expertise for needed design and ongoing management solutions. Identifies and analyzes workforce learning and development needs and utilizes the Universitys mission and values to inform overall strategy and goals. Assists in organizing cross-functional team workshops online and in-person.
Essential Functions
Incumbent must be capable of oral and written communication, be able to talk on the telephone, be able to use a computer and keyboard, and be able to use video communication technology Zoom, Teams, etc.. Incumbent must be able to engage in conversations involving sensitive topics with discretion and care.
Physical Effort
While the position is primarily sedentary, the employee will need to attend meetings/events/activities at various locations across campus and throughout the community.
