JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Engineering at Penn State is seeking a self-motivated Postdoctoral Scholar. The successful candidate will be expected to lead projects that address interesting and challenging problems in algorithmic genomics. Topics of interest include k-mer data structures, sketching techniques, sequence comparison search, compression, transcriptomic algorithms, genome assembly, variant detection, and the theoretical analysis of bioinformatics algorithm.

A Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field is required by the start date. Demonstrated skill set in algorithm design, analysis, and implementation will be highly advantageous.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, a CV, two first-author papers most closely representing the type of work they want to build on as a Postdoctoral Scholar, and the names of at least two references.

The start date of this position will be Fall 2023. This is a term appointment for 1 year with an excellent possibility of renewal.
