JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State  Residential Dining – East Food District is searching for a full time Cook B (University Park) to join their team. Duties include:
Prepare, combine, season and/or cook food according to standardized recipes, methods and/or procedures
Assemble menu items ensuring that all standards of appearance, flavor and portions are acceptable
Assemble off premise serving areas and kitchens
Set up food products for serving
Ensure food service standards meet the specifications of customers or guests according to required style or theme requested
Direct the work of part-time employees
Under the direction of chef, prepare garniture and meal accompaniments
Ensure that sanitary techniques are used in the preparation, handling and storage of foods
Drive catering vehicles as required
Maintain work areas in clean, sanitary and orderly condition

Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. Ability to read and write, use ordinary mathematics, work from recipes, menus, requisitions, familiar with ordinary cooking routines.9 to 12 months of effective experience.

NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.

This position is part of the bargaining unit represented by Teamsters Local Union No. 8 and has a starting hourly wage of $20.90.
