Works independently gathering relevant facts and data.
Summarizes and coordinates legal documents and performs legal and record research. Checks legal forms for accuracy.
Transcribes dictation including legal opinions, briefs, memos, subpoenas, and other related legal documents
Maintains legal files and filing/tracking systems on all court cases, appeals, invoices, and billings.
Logs opinions, orders, and other court decisions and perform necessary docketing.
Processes legal forms to implement court orders and proceedings.
Greets general public and assists them with paperwork and qualifying process.
Opens mail and replies to routine correspondence.
Answers telephone and takes messages or transfers calls to proper individuals.
Interacts with public, clients, and other internal departments.
Attends court hearings to record dispositions
Distributes files for pre-trial conferences and assists attorneys with preparation of hearings/trial information.
Maintains department files in an up-to-date manner, as required.
Processes dismissal and expungement documents.
Types letters, reports, memos, and other documents required by the victim witness advocates.
Assists victim witness advocates in contacting victims and requesting restitution.
Attends court hearings to ensure restitution is ordered when appropriate and to assist with victims/witnesses when necessary.
Maintains the victim witness database; as well a enters victim/witness data into the Prosecutors Management System.
Prepares victim/witness folders.
Contacts law enforcement to acquire victim information.
Maintains the Forensic Rape database.
Completes 10 hours of victim advocate training per year.
