Wayne County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) has a rewarding position for a patient, compassionate and organized individual who enjoys assisting senior citizens. As an Aging Case Aide 2, you will assist participants on both the Adult Daily Living Center in Hawley and the Senior Day Center by performing personal care tasks. Join our team of professionals as we work to ensure seniors can lead a productive, safe, and happy life while maintaining as much independence as possible.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Responsibilities at the Adult Daily Living Center will include routine non-professional care services daily for consumers with significant cognitive and/or physical disabilities, and whose families need respite from such care. This work entails providing essential support and assistance to individuals in their daily activities and well-being. Responsibilities include personal care assistance, health monitoring, rehabilitative support, nutritional assistance, facilitating recreational activities, ensuring safety and supervision, and adhering to care plans and safety protocols.
Additional duties at the Hawley Senior Center, include health insurance counseling, assisting with various service applications, providing outreach to encourage participation, and organizing activities and events. You will be responsible for resolving conflicts, attending meetings to disseminate information, arranging transportation, maintaining informational displays, and utilizing computer systems for data management. Work includes substituting at other centers when needed, collecting donations, conducting classes, overseeing volunteers, serving meals, and contributing to newsletters.
Effective organization, empathy, interpersonal communication skills, and adherence to procedures are vital in fulfilling these duties and enhancing the well-being and independence of those being cared for.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.
Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Employee is required to be flexible in scheduling and will have duties in two settings.
Employee may have overnight travel or out of county travel for meetings or training.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as an Aging Case Aide 1; or
Two years of public contact work, including one year in a human services program; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
You must pass a background investigation.
A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening, medical examination, and TB test.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
