POSITION SUMMARY
1. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Mechanics report directly to the Maintenance Manager and are responsible for inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting and repairing all plant equipment assigned to him/her. In-depth knowledge of all plant machinery operations is required. In performing these responsibilities, associates are to work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates team member involvement.
2. Mechanics must follow a systematic process for accomplishing preventive, scheduled and emergency equipment maintenance. Mechanics must be knowledgeable of industrial electricity (all phases and voltages), mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic operations, troubleshooting techniques, blueprint, schematic analysis and proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment.
3. Mechanics must demonstrate proper documentation and housekeeping practices to insure quality maintenance is being performed and communicated. Mechanics have the responsibility for identifying equipment deficiencies which affect quality control, wear and tear and excess costs.

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work in a professional manner with other maintenance personnel as needed to keep all equipment in top working order resulting in only quality product being released to the customer.
2. Troubleshoot, remove and replace different types of electronic, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and optic systems.
3. Pre-inspect parts or equipment to be repaired to determine what parts, supplies, forms, tools, tool repair and shop equipment are required; and communicate with Maintenance Manager.
4. Read programmable controller information to diagnose complex problems.
5. Diagnose and repair AC and DC motor controls.
6. Replace belts, pulleys, cables, chains, bearings, gears and related equipment.
7. Communicate with other plant personnel when requested to, to review deficiencies.
8. Accurately log all work performed.
9. Maintain work areas in a clean orderly manner.
10. Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
11. Be thoroughly familiar with plant lockout/tag out procedures, electrical safety, hazard communication program, personal protective equipment and other safety programs and apply these procedures when working on equipment.
12. Other duties and/or jobs as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
1. Work off of a ladder or in high or cramped spaces.
2. Must be skillful in diagnosing and repairing plastic injection molding equipment and accessories. Talented in troubleshooting industrial motors, starters, controls, and panels.
3. High school education or GED equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4. Good hand and eye coordination is essential.
5. Demonstrated dexterity in using hand tools.
6. Ability to lift 100 pounds and carry 50 pounds safely.
7. Ability to intermittently sit, bend, climb, twist, crouch, reach, and lower.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to transfer and to interpret the explanation of problems and to receive and understand work assignments.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
1. Injection molding machine abilities preferred.
2. Electrical back ground.
3. Ability to operate a orklift safely and professionally.
