In this role as Assistant General Counsel, Procurement, you will be the legal business partner for Global Procurement and a member of the Global Procurement Leadership Team. In addition, you will lead the legal team that supports Global Commercial and Tech Procurement and WREF.
The role involves transactional support for, and counselling on, a wide range of activities critical to the commercialization of our medicines including digital innovation/AI, marketing services, contract sales, and real estate. You will lead a team of three lawyers within the Legal Contracting Network (LCN) who support Tech, Services and WREF. In addition, this role will work closely with the Head of LCN to improve systems and processes related to contracting. Strategic-level thinking is essential, as is exceptional judgment, ability to collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders and other legal colleagues, and a strong work ethic. Must be energized by working in a dynamic environment and in a matrix-fashion to develop solutions to complex business needs.
Key responsibilities: This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
Procurement Legal Business Partner
Serve as a member of the Global Procurement Leadership Team (GPLT), advising GSKs Chief Procurement Officer and members of the GPLT with respect to GSKs third-party global supply network and other Procurement transactions that impact Commercial, R&D, Supply Chain, Tech, WREF and other categories of direct and indirect procurement
Understand and contribute to the ongoing evolution of Procurement-led programs that intersect with contracting, including TPRM and Buying Goods & Services
Transactional Support
Provide comprehensive legal advice and support on a wide range of transactional matters, including complex technology, marketing & sales vendor/supplier contracts, including vendor relations and dispute resolution. Apply a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach, with a commitment to clear communication and timely response
Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts and agreements to protect GSKs interests and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Legal Operations Management
Continuously improve our ability to track and measure delivery of contract support, applying business and technical innovations (e.g., strategic planning, data analytics, technology adoption) to the delivery of contracting services
Develop and implement strategies to streamline legal processes, enhance workflows, and leverage technology to optimize legal operations
Serve as a member of GSKs contracting transformation and CLM implementation core team
Team Leadership
Manage and mentor a team of three direct reports, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting continuous learning and growth
Requirements:
Qualified attorney
At least 10 years of experience with procurement contracting
