THE WORK
The GG Cyber architect (Satellite RF Engineering) is in an extremely customer facing role leading multi faceted mission critical system development, deployment and evolution and modernization. The following are the primary functions of the position:
● Survey existing RF systems from LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) to Data Processing: The engineer should thoroughly survey and assess the current RF systems, starting from the LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) all the way to data processing units. This comprehensive review will help identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement within the existing infrastructure.
● Survey existing control and tasking systems: The engineer will need to evaluate the current control and tasking systems to understand their functionality, limitations, and potential for integration with the new architecture. This assessment will ensure seamless communication between the satellite earth terminal and other systems involved in controlling and managing the mission.
● Gathering digitizer requirements for various mission customers: The engineer should engage with mission customers to collect detailed requirements for digitizers. Understanding the unique needs of each mission customer will help design a tailored solution that meets or exceeds their expectations.
● Performing a market survey to identify vendors with devices that can potentially support the mission: The engineer should conduct an in-depth market survey to identify vendors with devices that meet the missions requirements. This survey should include a wide range of vendors such as Midwest Microwave, BAE Systems, DRT, Rincon, Apogee, and others to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of available options.
● Characterizing available devices for performance: After identifying potential vendors, the engineer should assess and characterize the performance of their devices. This characterization will involve testing and evaluating the devices based on various parameters, including sensitivity, dynamic range, linearity, and noise figure, to determine their suitability for the mission.
● Collaborate with existing teams to design the new architecture: The engineer should work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including hardware, software, and systems engineers, to design the new architecture for the satellite earth terminal. This collaboration will ensure a holistic approach to system design and optimize the overall performance and efficiency.
● Perform a feasibility study to determine benefits and risks: The engineer should conduct a feasibility study to evaluate the potential benefits and risks associated with the new architecture. This study will help stakeholders understand the impact of the proposed changes and make informed decisions.
● Perform a cost comparison for large and expeditionary sites: The engineer should compare the costs of implementing the new architecture at large sites and expeditionary sites. This cost comparison will help stakeholders understand the financial implications of the modernization and allocate resources accordingly.
