GENERAL SUMMARY:

Certified individual accountable for providing patient care in collaboration with the medical providers and registered nurses, for all age groups of patient care.

The role you’ll contribute:

Recognizes and responds appropriately in emergency situations.

Maintains a safe and clean work environment, including cleaning rooms as necessary.

Reviews patient data and prioritizes care needs.

Performs frequent rounds on patients to optimize patient experience.

Reports any change in patient condition promptly to ED nurse or provider.

Keeps communication positive and professional with staff, patients and visitors, making follow-up phone calls as needed

Adheres to department and hospital policy.

Assists with wound care, insertion of foley catheters, fit and instruction on use of crutches,

Uses safety equipment (patient lift, transfer belt etc.) properly.

Collects, reports and documents clinical data, including vital signs.

Assists with placement of monitoring equipment-cardiac monitoring, non-invasive blood pressure and oxygen saturation monitoring.

Performs a variety of direct patient care activities, including drawing blood, performing electrocardiogram tests, assisting with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures

Completes POC blood glucose checks as needed, reporting abnormal ranges to RN.

Performs blood glucose machine control checks daily

Inspects and maintains equipment, instruments and supplies. Restocks inventory for effective, efficient patient care in emergency rooms.

Assists with transporting patients in and out of emergency rooms

Seeks educational offerings to increase professional growth.

Performs other duties as assigned by nurses, supervisor, providers or director within your scope of practice.

Qualifications

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· Basic Cardiac Life Support – American Heart Association only

· Georgia CNA, LPN, EMT, or Paramedic License, or MOA (Medical office assistant)
