Title: PAINTER Location: United States-Florida-Pensacola Job Number: 240003LU Job Summary: Paints such as buildings counters, cabinets, etc. using standard painting methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying. Must also have a knowledge of rubbing down fine-textured finishes, marbling, mottling, and graining techniques. Duties and Responsibilities: Paints a variety of surfaces according to directions. Has knowledge of any of the accepted surface preparations coating methods and techniques including those designed to give special effects. Prepares coating materials by blending, tinting, toning, and mixes in various additives. Builds up, shapes, and levels surfaces with metal and synthetic resins, plastics, and patching compounds. Obtains finely smoothed surfaces with abrasives, evens out dents by burning-in processes and treats surfaces with precoating agents. Assures that the coating finish meets the desired match, texture, and thickness requirements. – Uses a variety of tools and equipment such as brushes, rollers, spray guns, trowels, straight edges, viscosity testers and graining devices. – Is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment that weighs up to 10 pounds. Occasionally handles materials and equipment weighing 40 pounds and over. – Works inside and outside. Dirt, spray, and fumes are usually present. Is occasionally exposed to bad weather that requires wearing heavy and uncomfortable protective clothing. Is exposed frequently to cuts and bruises and the possibility of broken bones from falling ladders and scaffolds. – Performs other related work as assigned Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform standard painting methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying of various surfaces (buildings, walls, counters, cabinets, etc.). SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Five years of experience performing professional painting work including rubbing down fine-textured finishes, marbling, mottling and graining techniques; surface preparation, coating methods and techniques including those designed to give special effects, etc. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up materials and equipment that weighs up to 10 pounds; occasionally handles materials and equipment weighing 40 pounds and over.
