Summary This position serves as the Supervisor of the Medical Center Textile Care Facility Operation. Supervises approximately 25-30 employees and engages in sorting and washing various classifications of hospital linen, uniforms and clothing for the VA Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Florida and the VA Medical Center, Miami, Florida. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibility include: Trains subordinates to properly perform necessary tasks and in the operation of equipment. Evaluate employees as part of the Merit Promotion Plan and assists in the selection of employees to fill vacancies within the unit. Advises Textile Care Manager of needs to revise work schedules, rules of conduct and disciplinary procedures. Assigns and direct workers and gives priority to tasks to be done. Conducts training classes on specific safety issues as needed. Provide relief coverage for supervisory responsibility with the Environmental Management Service. Training, counseling, disciplining, evaluating and promoting the growth of employees within the program. Prepares, maintains and monitors work plans for staff utilization. Plans for the use of workers, equipment, materials, and tools for housekeeping assignments Engage in sorting and washing various classifications of hospital linen, uniforms and clothing. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/21/2024. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent must be in good, mental and physical condition at all times due to the complexity of operations and physical layout of the consolidated Laundry. This involves contact with the using departments of textiles and uniforms, other service personnel and participation in other medical center activities as required. The position involves long periods of standing, bending, and stooping to observe work operations in any areas of the consolidated Laundry.
