Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems in our Test Instrumentation & Lethal Mechanisms Portfolio which develops Fuzing Systems (Ignition Safety Devices for igniting rocket motors, Electronic Safe & Arm Devices for initiating warheads), Proximity Sensors, as well as telemetry systems for rocket, missile and unmanned aerial system applications. You will have the opportunity to lead the technical direction of a growing warhead fuzing and rocket motor ignition product line that will impact numerous projects! This highly impactful mission creates hardware that defends our War Fighters in numerous ways! These products are in current production in support of several weapons systems customers with increased production over the next several years.
Primary Responsibilities
This unique role will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of complex electronic hardware for defense applications. Additionally, this role includes support of our manufacturing team, throughout the lifecycle of each product. Projects will involve diverse technology areas, including analog and digital electronic design, payload integration, and system integration. We support our manufacturing team for existing products as well as launching new products in this role.
Basic Qualifications
BSEE degree plus 12 plus years of prior relevant experience including:
Concept development and circuit design for a variety of products
Experience using Mentor Graphics or similar E-CAD schematic capture software
Debugging electronic hardware with standard laboratory equipment
Product manufacturing support
Experience leading design effort on new or existing products and bringing to market
Experience providing oversight, mentoring, and training to younger engineers
Experience designing products for military systems and familiarity with military standards
Must be a US citizen and a resident of Huntsville, Alabama, or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, Alabama area.
Must possess (and be able to maintain) a final secret clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Altium schematic capture and PCB layout E-CAD
Experience designing and testing Electronic Safe & Arm Devices (ESAD) and Ignition Safety Device (ISD)
C programming abilities for embedded micro-processors
GUI development for test interfaces using Python, LabView, etc.
Excellent communication skills

Pay Range:
Pay Range $122,200.00 – $220,900.00
