Professional Aide

### Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

### Unit Position Summary

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

– Revise manuscripts, compile data, performs statistics, and analyzes and interprets experimental results
– Develops reports (including generation of tables and graphs), manuscripts, and articles for scientific and industry/trade publications

### Desired Qualifications

Drs. Roberto Lopez in the Department of Horticulture at Michigan State University are seeking a temp on call Assistant I. His research focuses on lighting applications in greenhouses and indoor vertical farms; controlled-environment production of floriculture crops, leafy greens, and culinary herbs; developing and evaluating new greenhouse technologies; and use of plant growth regulators in greenhouse crop production.

Desired Education/ Experience/ Skills

– M.S. in Horticulture or closely related discipline
– Experience in communicating, both written and oral, research results to industry and scientific audiences
– Demonstrated ability to publish in refereed, peer-reviewed journals and trade/industry magazines
– Proficient in the use of statistical programs; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and Sigma Plot
