Sanfilippo & Son, Inc.Job Description Machine Operator – 2nd ShiftSummary of the Position:The Machine Operator, works safely to operate and maintain one machine, and ensures it is running efficiently with minimum supervision.Functions of the Position:% of TimeorMarginal (M)Essential (E)Functions Performed50%ESets up machine-loading and monitors to ensure it is running efficiently.5%EFollows work order, quality controls and sanitation procedures concerning weights, packs, descriptions, code date, cleanup and changeovers.10%EPerforms quality control and material waste checks.5%EDirects/instructs machine line personnel in specific job duties.5%EPicks work order demands, stages product for production use and returns unused items back to inventory. Adheres to all Forklift safety and GMP rules, including allergen segregation and organic product handling. Attends all assigned training.5%EPerforms pre-operational checks.5%EMaintains and exceeds production, quality and safety standards.5%ELoads product into hopper.5%MCleans machine properly after production runs or changeovers.5%MMaintains a clean, organized and safe work area.ContinuallyResponsible to support safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting potential hazards, and conducting safety observations.Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following current good manufacturing practices, allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements.Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas.Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.Responsible to comply with all safety policies and procedures established for health and workplace safety.Education, Experience, and Knowledge:Prior manufacturing work experience is a plusPrior industrial truck experience a plus.Prior machine operator experience a plus.Skills and Competencies:Capable of following verbal and written directions.Basic math skillsAbility to speak and read in EnglishMechanical abilityGood manual dexterity, vision and mobilityAbility to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.Job Specific Requirements:This position is subject to mandatory overtime based on business needs.Equal Opportunity Employer – minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
