Job Description

1. Job Summary:

The Health and Wellness Director provides supervision and work direction to various health and wellness programs. The incumbent is responsible for managing and leading program delivery, maintain equipment and supervises team members to ensuring quality delivery of programs meeting the needs of the branch and community. Schedule and deliver equipment and youth orientations and metabolic assessments. The incumbent hires, supervises, develops, trains and supports team members in the program(s) that they lead. The incumbent is responsible for meeting established budget and revenue goals and is a member of the branch management team. As needed, the Health and Wellness Director and/or their team members may be requested to support other program areas within the branch, particularly programs under their leadership, and preparing their team members to engage is cross-department needs. The Health and Wellness Director leads various health and wellness programs that may include group exercise, and/or ForeverWell and/or aquatics, and/or integrative health and wellbeing, and/or other relevant programs related to wellness. If applicable, addendum(s) entailing the responsibilities of supervision is attached with this description.

2. Essential Functions:

· Manage and provides direction for personal training, group training, group exercise, ForeverWell, integrative health and wellbeing and fitness orientation, assessments and directly manages personal trainers, group exercise instructors and other program areas’ team members within leadership portfolio.

· Directly manage team members’ timecard edits and approval, processes payroll and schedules.

· Assist to execute the integration of wellbeing modalities.

· Conduct and oversee youth orientations, fitness solutions and assessments.

· Promote and educates team members, members and community participants on the benefits of participating in key healthy living programs to maximize revenue potential and increase member retention.

· Manage a high performing team and ensures the quality delivery of programs and services provided. Works closely with the specialist team on innovative approaches and implements programs, evaluate program results, establish areas for improvement and develop and implement plans to achieve desired goals and objectives.

· Ensure team members are trained and prepared to assist programs outside of their primary responsibilities and demonstrates agility and commitment to service and safety standards when help is needed.

· Prepares and manages program budgets to assure revenue and program service goals are achieved.

· Recruit, hire, on-board, train, manage and develop team members in various program areas of leadership.

· Ensure a high level of customer service which enhances members’ and participants’ experience, retention and satisfaction.

· Maintains quality fitness floor equipment and ensures cleanliness of program areas.

3. Relationships:

This position reports to the Executive or Operations Director of the branch who reports to the Associate Vice President of Operations. The incumbent works closely with the branch management team, specialist team, and other Association team members. The incumbent supervises team members.

4. Qualifications:

Required

· Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in group exercise and personal training

· Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience

· Proven management ability in budget and financial control and staff management and development

· Demonstrated success promoting and selling programs and activities

· Ability to work in highly flexible and rapidly changing work environment

· Ability to maintain up to date knowledge of healthy living programs to include fitness, and health and wellness trends.

· Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various groups to achieve a desired end result

· Effective verbal and written communication skills

· Good organizational skills

· Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

· Ability to manage programs to a diverse population

Preferred

· Degree in Health, Science and Recreation or related field.

· Possess a current accredited and nationally recognized certification in one or more of the following areas Personal Training, Land or Water Group Exercise, or Pilates Reformer.

5. Work Conditions:

· Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

· Ability to travel locally to visit branch sites, attend meetings and training.

6. Additional Notes:

This job description represents the major functions of the position but is not intended to be all-inclusive.
