Team Overview:
The Strategy & Operations team within Owned Brands helps the organization deliver on our brand promise and purpose while ensuring that Owned Brands remains a competitive advantage for Target. The team is responsible for cross-functional support to leaders across product design, product operations, and brand management. We are standing up a new function within this team to support the specific lines of business (Pyramids) across Owned Brands.
Success will be measured by the ability to shepherd the Pyramid’s strategic direction across Owned Brands, the enterprise, and align the organization behind a set of strategic choices, while driving accountability to measurable outcomes
Position Overview:
As a Director, Western Hemisphere Strategy for Owned Brands, you will play a critical role in helping the Target Owned Brands organization achieve its goals. By supporting specific business and strategic efforts across product operations, sourcing, and design, you will apply your strengths in problem solving, business acumen, and strategy development to shape near term execution and long-term direction of Target Owned Brands. The work could involve a variety of areas including creating & implementing process and best practices, driving new capabilities and tools, facilitating cross functional meetings, implementing new ways of working, and investigating strategic questions most pertinent to the multiple business areas serviced within the Western Hemisphere
This includes:
Defining and driving the strategic agenda for the Western Hemisphere Sourcing & Development team. Understand and ensure connectivity and dependencies to Merchandising and Enterprise Plans
Leading Western Hemisphere business case development as well as support of margin and opportunity analysis to move WH strategy forward, leveraging strong skillset inclusive analytical skills, financial acumen, and storytelling
Creative and structured problem solving to ambiguous issues
Partnering and collaborating across the enterprise to influence process and enabling capability changes to capitalize on Western Hemisphere strategic priorities and opportunities
Acting as the primary strategic thought partner and advisor for Western Hemisphere Roundtable leaders, inclusive of the VP of Manufacturing and Sourcing
Collaborating with pyramid leaders and building critical partnerships across the enterprise (Merchandising, Planning, Finance, Operations, to ensure successful implementation of strategic direction needed to achieve business priorities
Work with business champions to drive cross-Pyramid initiatives to accelerate results and operationalize/advance the OB strategic plan through alignment and proper sequencing against pyramid priorities (i.e., translate strategy to action)
Supporting OB leaders in thought partnership, strategy development, prioritization, and execution; inclusive of dynamic and impactful storytelling at the leader level
Develop, monitor, & continuously improve the Operating Cadence for the Western Hemisphere Leadership Team. Ensure clarity around forum & routine purpose, attendance, sequencing, and streamlined information flow
Leading implementation and progress tracking for each pyramid’s strategic plan as the Western Hemisphere strategy lead
Develop routines to cascade information, insights, & discussions to key business partners where needed to drive critical discussion & connected decision-making across the enterprise
About you (experience requirements):
4-year degree or equivalent experience, MBA or similar advanced degree preferred
Experience within management consulting firms, corporate strategy group, project management, business ops or equivalent of 10 years
Strong analytical, financial, and storytelling skillet, with proven experience in facilitating cross functional teams and leaders and a high tolerance for ambiguity
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with ability to tell compelling business and result stories, including designing and facilitating key moments with leaders across the enterprise
Excellent relationship building skills, including ability to influence and align cross-functional teams; creating trust, anticipate needs, enablers, and roadblocks.
Experience building and managing an effective operating cadence for a large team or leading a major business transformation and/or a large cross-functional project
Demonstrates success leading multiple, disparate projects at the same time, simultaneously managing working team, partners, and senior executive relationships
Lead with a future forward, strategic, and operational mentality; thinks tactically and creatively
Flexibility, resiliency, and versatility; comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing
Proven change leadership and communication skills
A result oriented and performance driven individual who demonstrates strong initiative and has superior team, organization, and cross-functional leadership skills
Candidates with Consumer Products experience in addition to Merch, Planning, Product Ops, and/or Owned Brand (Private label) experience are preferred

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
