Planner – Lake County
LAKE COUNTY
The Lake Planning Department is accepting applications for a Planner.
The Lake County Planning Department is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Planner position. The position involves administering a wide variety of land-use planning regulations. Successful applicants must have graduated with a degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, Geography or a related field, or have a minimum of two years of professional experience in a similar position, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

-Be able to manage multiple priorities on a daily basis
-Be willing to learn, take direction, be ready to adjust, and be able to think on their feet
-Have previous experience with customer service, report writing, public speaking, ability to exercise independent judgment, experience with construction, and knowledge of environmental studies
-Be able and willing to effectively and professionally communicate with members of the public under potentially stressful conditions
-Be able to attend public meetings, including regular monthly evening meetings
-Have and maintain a valid drivers license and be able to conduct site visits to properties within the county
DUTIES:
Duties associated with a Planner position would include:
-Conducting themselves in a professional manner
-Assisting the public with research and answering property related questions
-Preparing and presenting reports and other written documents to the public and county boards
-Reviewing permit applications and plans to ensure compliance with governmental regulations
-Subdivision review and assisting with regulation amendments
-Conducting site visits to properties within the county to evaluate for compliance
-Taking direction from and reporting to the Planning Director (specific duties assigned to each Planner are determined by the Planning Director)
Hours/Days: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m./M-F; may work some non-office hours.
Wage: $20.00-22.00/hourly or D.O.E
