Convergint is looking for an experienced In-House Counsel focused in Commercial and Employment Litigation to be responsible for supporting commercial and employment litigation company wide. This role involves managing complex legal disputes and regulatory matters. As a key member of the Legal Department, you will work closely with business teams to support all phases of assigned claims and litigation matters. You will work in collaboration with a talented global Legal Department to assess legal risks and partner on initiatives to ensure the company’s legal interests are protected and advanced effectively. What You’ll Do

Litigation and Claims : Manage all aspects of assigned claims and litigation matters, including administrative agency proceedings and arbitrations, with a focus on commercial and employment matters. Manage responses to third-party subpoenas and other regulatory matters as assigned.

Internal Discovery: Manage internal discovery as required, including e-discovery and litigation holds.

Outside Counsel: Effectively and strategically manage outside counsel to achieve company objectives.

Legal Research: Conduct legal research and analyze relevant case law, statutes, and regulations to support litigation strategy.

Investigation: Assist with investigations of and responses to threatened claims.

Employment-Specific Matters: Assist with review and drafting of employment-specific documents such as employment agreements, separation agreements, and employment-related policies.

Insurance Claim Support: Review and support claims to insurance and collect relevant information.

Continuing Education: Monitor relevant laws, regulations, and legal trends to inform case strategy and provide proactive advice on developments that may impact the company.

Special Projects: Adapt to emerging needs within the Legal Department and handle compliance, corporate or other tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Need

Communication : Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and insurance representatives. Ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences, including the ability to clearly and concisely explain legal concepts to a business audience.

Writing: Demonstrated ability to draft and review legal documents and communications such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, regulatory filings, and internal policies.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to successfully align litigation strategies with overall business goals.

Independence: Ability to take ownership of multiple complex matters simultaneously while managing deadlines. Must demonstrate independent initiative, strategic judgment, and the ability to drive legal matters to successful outcomes with minimal supervision.

Collaborative: Be part of a fun, tech-driven and talented global legal team where innovation is encouraged to deliver creative, useful and results-oriented legal services to support the legal needs of the company.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, e-discovery tools, and legal research platforms such as Practical Law.

Travel: Willingness to travel as necessary.

Requirements:

Education:

J.D degree from an ABA accredited law school.

License:

Active license to practice law in Illinois or ability to waive into the Illinois bar.

Minimum Experience:

2 years of experience handling commercial and/or employment litigation and arbitration.

Preferred Experience (but not required):

Previous law firm experience.

Employment law subject matter knowledge.

Experience with international disputes.
