Primary Purpose of Position
The Associate, Labor Programs (LP) will operate under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Labor Programs. The LP serves as a crucial intermediary between Constellation, labor unions, and contractors to promote harmonious workplace relationships. The LP plays a significant role in workforce development by facilitating pathways into the trades. The LP ensures effective communication between Constellation, labor unions, and contractors to address concerns promptly and transparently. Various communication channels are utilized to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged. The LP also navigates the interests of Constellation, labor unions, and contractors, requiring diplomacy, negotiation skills, and an understanding of organizational dynamics.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
Build and maintain positive relationships with employees, labor union representatives, and management.
Help manage conflicts between labor unions and contractors with empathy and fairness.
Work with labor unions and other stakeholders to ensure there are enough skilled workers for projects and maintenance.
Coordinate with managers to make sure the right people are assigned to support projects and maintenance across the company.
Work with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency in maintenance and operations.
Support contracts, including monitoring performance and processes.
Assist task managers and project managers with managing skilled labor.
Address problems and issues with local craft labor unions.
Help develop programs to improve worker skills and workforce development.
Collaborate with human resources to support workforce planning and development initiatives.
Lead local committee meetings.
Administrate the Constellation GPPMA letter of assent process.
Minimum Qualifications:
4-year degree in LR, HR, IR, Business (or equivalent experience) and 0 – 2 years commercial nuclear or related experience.
Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
Works effectively and relates well with others, including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company. The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior work experience in a unionized industrial setting.
