Journeyman 2 – Service Tech (HVAC)

UPMC Corporate is hiring a Journeyman 2- Service Tech to join our team! The position works Monday through Friday starting at 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM. At times, this position can assist with on call coverage and travel. This role will maintain the facilities mechanical systems and equipment, air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems in a clean, repaired and running condition for an efficient operation.

Responsibilities:

Inspect all facilities specific mechanical air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment to identify possible deficiencies and/or malfunctions. Inspect mechanical devices and makes any necessary repairs or corrections.

Interpret all information gathered from blueprints, instruction books and sketches to maintain all equipment. Ensure all equipment is kept in efficient working order and operated in a safe manner.

Perform preventive maintenance and take proactive steps to ensure equipment is properly maintained. Check meters, gauges, signal lights and other warning devices for possible problems and makes necessary corrections.

Perform repairs and major replacement components of building systems (i.e, cooling towers, gear boxes, main air handler components, pumping systems, etc.). Maintain, troubleshoot, and provide documentation of water treatment systems, including open and close loop systems and potable water Legionella control systems.

Perform all work following infection control procedures. Complete and records work orders; submits hours to supervisor on a daily basis.

Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas. Maintain assigned mechanical area. Fabricate and maintain ICRA consistent with UPMC policy and standards

Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs all duties as assigned.

High School diploma with three-year apprenticeship in institutional refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems is required.

Completion of a recognized course in institutional refrigeration and air conditioning may be substituted year for year for apprenticeship and experience, or equivalent, such as on-the-job training.

Associates degree from an accredited trade school or completion of an associated trade specific apprentice program, (i.e., HVAC, Electrician, Steam Fitter, etc.).

Must have working knowledge of plumbing, steam fitting and sheet metal work.

May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medication is stored.

No contact with medications is allowed.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Must possess appropriate license or registration to meet code requirements, as needed.
