Clinical Research Nurse II

 

This position in the Department of Neurology will provide research support to National Institute on Aging-NIH funded grants on dementia, neuroimaging and other biomarkers of neurodegeneration in aging. Activities may include screening and identifying potential participants appropriate for neuroimaging studies; recruiting and consenting participants into studies; performing neurologic, basic physical exams and blood draws; conducting structured health history interviews and questionnaires; coordinating travel arrangements; scheduling MRI and PET studies and other study components; accompanying participants to imaging sessions and other procedures; maintaining study-related case-report forms and required documentation; assisting with IRB submission and recruitment/enrollment data management; participating in diagnostic consensus conferences; and working within a dynamic, interdisciplinary study team of staff and faculty Investigators.

Job Summary

Supports clinical research projects by coordinating projects and drug trials, assessing patients qualifications, and facilitating protocols. Collects and reviews lab results, patient data, and lab specimens; administers medications and protocol-specific treatments. Performs general laboratory duties and specialized nursing duties, trains new staff, and ensures regulatory adherence.

Essential Functions

Ability to communicate well and interact with older adults, some with cognitive impairment.

Functions will include making calls, walking, talking, computer usage.

Physical Effort

Mostly sedentary position. Some walking to various University campus sites. Lifting light objects including study binders and supplies.
