Senior Manager, Data Management (ES Risk)

As a Senior Risk Manager in the Enterprise Services Risk Office, we are the first line of defense to help ensure our Company remains well-managed and avoid unnecessary risk. In this position, you will play a key role in enhancing our data management processes for Enterprise data management platforms and tools across Capital One. As the risk team for Enterprise Data, we are on the cutting edge of risk management and provide support for our critical business strategies. Capital One has taken a bold journey to build a technology company, while operating in a complex, highly regulated business.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of process management strategies, risk methodologies and ability to build relationships with business and risk partners. The ability to think from a ‘customer back’ perspective is also critical. Leaders in risk management at Capital One are highly motivated professionals with excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One.
Specific responsibilities of the Senior Risk Manager include and are not limited to:
Develop and implement processes to provide independent analysis and effective plans to mitigate risk related to the company’s data management practices.
Ensure effective governance by identifying, framing, and presenting risk topics to be discussed by senior management in enterprise risk forums.
Advise and consult on the development and management of data related policies, standards and procedures.
Stay current on emerging risk and potential implications to the company as related to accountable domain(s).
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve strategic objectives.
Coordinate program-related activities and deliverables to ensure effective collaboration within the team and across stakeholder groups.
Lead a team providing risk consulting to multiple Business Areas and is a thought leader in providing guidance to implementing risk management practices.
Analyzes data and influences others to proactively identify risks and trends.
Balances multiple priorities to help drive business value and support team objectives, while managing tasks and activities related to risk management initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
At least 6 years of risk management or corporate strategy experience
At least 6 years of communications or program management experience
At least 6 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Business or Risk Management
7 years of experience in Data Management, Data Governance or Data Privacy, or a combination
Demonstrates ability to drive results and communicate with all level stakeholders
7 years of experience in risk, or compliance, or audit
7 years of experience working with internal business clients
5 years of experience in Banking or in the financial services industry
5 years of leading highly cross-functional programs
Relevant professional certification
